Bad fishing experience
Posted On 10/18/2010 20:46:04 by Adairr

Lately, I've been wondering when our Fish and Wildlife Resources will do something constructive about the fishing in Strawberry Reservoir. I remember when Strawberry was probably the best fishery in the state, perhaps even in the nation. Now it is probably the worst.

The other day, I put $75 worth of gas in my motor home, $25 worth in my boat, took my $25 crawdad traps and drove up to Strawberry for a fishing trip. What did I get? A nice boat ride and a couple dozen crawdads. Also, I had to pay $17 for a place to park my self-contained motor home. I could have had the boat ride on Utah Lake and could have caught a few catfish at least.

To add insult to injury, someone drove his boat way out of the normal traffic pattern and hooked the rope on one of my crawdad traps with his propeller and of course lost it for me. I'm not charging that loss to the FWR, however. We citizens do have to take some responsibility, I guess.

We did have a nice crawdad meal, but we could have had lobster tail at the Red Lobster for less than half the price.
